PAPER BILL PRESS
We are a Calgary-based chapbook publisher committed to spotlighting both established and emerging writers, as well as following the passions and interests of our editors. As opposed to being focused on a singular form or mode of writing, we seek out what excites us, from weird and speculative fiction to the poem to the essay to literary and art criticism. We aim to publish limited-run chapbooks and pamphlets that intrigue and excite us and are as much a joy to hold as they are to read.
Contribute to our year one Kickstarter to help make this press run!

For our first year of submissions, we aim to select five projects—one for each editor —to be published in spring/summer 2026. They will be available in print. When the print run sells out, digital copies will be made available on a pay-what-you-can basis.
What We Publish
Every project with PBP is different, and each editor has their own vision. We want to showcase a range of authors across a variety of genres which align with the specialties of our editors.
Do you have a piece of fiction that falls somewhere between science fiction and horror? Two of our editors, Ben Ghan and Amy Leblanc, might be very interested. Maybe you are working with poetry that experiments with form? Or a hybrid piece that can’t quite be nailed down as fiction or essay? Ellen Chang-Richardson or Ryanne Kap might want to see. Or, if you feel you have something to say about the state of literature and the arts in Canada right now, Margaryta Golovchenko will want to see your pitch.
Chapbooks with Paper Bill Press range from 12-24 pages of writing.
